Riverfront Discussions
February 12th, 2005
NORTHFIELD — The Riverfront Redevelopment project was a topic of discussion at Thursday’s meeting of Northfield’s Economic Development Authority.
On Monday, the Northfield City Council is anticipated to take action on a pre-development agreement between the city and Mendota Homes, a development company that has purchased property in the area.
The pre-development agreement will provide exclusive development rights to Mendota Homes, as long as the developer is able to fulfill the requirements of the agreement.
Part of the EDA’s discussion involved the potential request to turn ownership of its portion of the redevelopment project over to the city.
Brian O’Connell, the city’s community development director said that the move would simplify the process between the council and Mendota Homes.
The EDA would be compensated for its portion of the land at the time the developer would acquire the property set for redevelopment.
The EDA will meet again on Feb. 24.
